Welcome to the Low Country

Thu, Feb 1st 2018 10:52 am by Angie Shoemaker General

Along the Grand Strand, sparkling warm waters crash into exceptionally beautiful sandy beaches that are home to seagulls and loggerhead sea turtles among other marine life.  Stunning landscapes, golf courses, massive oak trees, sweet salty breezes and genuine southern hospitality abound.  With over 900 acres of incredibly gorgeous gardens, walking trails and natural animal habitats can be found just within the gates of Brookgreen Gardens, one of the locals’ favorite getaways. The many venues in the area offer numerous concerts, arts & crafts festivals and varying events of all kinds, certainly something to suit everyone. With such beautiful weather throughout most of the year, one could p...

Summertime Calling

Tue, May 27th 2014 5:00 pm by Angie Shoemaker General

If this past winter's wrath has you ready to seek sunshine and warmer temps, then pack your things and head to the Grand Strand! Spring has sprung! The flowers are in bloom, the skies are bright blue, the water is getting warmer and the salt air is downright irresistible.  Enjoy fresh catches of the day at local restaurants/markets, stroll through the beautiful Brookgreen Gardens sculptural & botanical park with Low Country Zoo, tour Atalaya Castle at Huntington Beach State Park, hit the water on a fishing excursion, jet ski, surf/paddleboard, learn to catch crabs & cast a net, meander down the beaches picking up seashells and sharks teeth, shop from one end of the Strand to the other, pl...

Rising Up

Mon, Jan 27th 2014 5:00 pm by Angie Shoemaker General

Welcome 2014! With the winter weather striking the North so hard, we are seeing a very active market locally. The economy feels a bit more optimistic, thus helping real estate further improve. I feel that with money being made in the stock market, some people are pulling out and starting to invest in real estate again. Here on the coast of South Carolina, our market has more room to move, as we are off the bottom with the best deals being made last year.  We are starting to see a shortage of inventory and that can push prices up again. Our market isn't running away but we are finally starting to see some positive responses. Last year was my best year, even beating out the best times in th...

Falling for the Grand Strand

Fri, Oct 25th 2013 11:00 am by Angie Shoemaker General

Now that we are merging into fall and the off-season, locally speaking, I am optimistic that the real estate market will continue to improve. Here, in the Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet areas, it appears that we are coming back considerably strong. It continues to be a buyer's market and those with cash are King! It seems that the sellers have adjusted to the new market according to their listing prices and they are firmly sticking to them. We have had some great sales; I am currently at 76 contracts, just over $24,000,000 in volume for the year. Year-to-Date I am #98 of 53,000 RE/MAX Agents, #1 between North & South Carolina RE/MAX agents and the #2 agent on the entire Grand Strand ou...

Topping the Charts

Mon, Jul 22nd 2013 2:30 pm by Angie Shoemaker General

What a year 2013 has been so far! As we settle into summer, I have 56 contracts closed or awaiting closing (33 of my listings, 6 of which I also represented the buyer) with a total volume of over $18,000,000! Hard work, diligence, heavy advertising and a great staff each play a major role in my success! I am beyond blessed and thankful for the clients, referrals, connections and new business I have received. Thank You! If I can be of service to you, please let me know.

Have a fun, safe summer!

A Great New Year!

Thu, Jan 5th 2012 11:00 am by Angie Shoemaker General

As we move into 2012, I look back in amazement and go forward with hope in starting a great New Year. The area's real estate market seems to have taken a slight turn for the better in recent months and we can hope 2012 has good things in-store for buyers and sellers alike! If you or your family/friends are in need of a great realtor, please think of me, as I would love to help with your/their real estate needs.

I have to thank God for blessing me with another good year and though we are in tough economic times, I try to stay positive and keep a healthy attitude, as i am certain things will turn around for us all. The rougher periods in life have certainly made me a stronger woman and t...

The New Fall Line

Mon, Oct 3rd 2011 4:00 pm by Angie Shoemaker General

Now that we are merging into fall, let's hope the real estate market doesn't take it literally and fall any further. Here, in the Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet areas, it appears that we are bouncing off the bottom. It continues to be a buyers' market and those with cash, are King! It seems that the sellers have adjusted to the new market by cutting their listing prices and are firmly sticking to them. We have had some great sales and free advertising through word-of-mouth, as the people who are moving here are finding out about and sharing all the wonderful things this area has in store for them. They say once you get the sand between your toes and the salty air in your nose, you'll f...

The Grand Strand has been a very popular vacation destination for decades as it appeals to families, honeymooners, students and all walks of life.  With ample attractions, leisurely activities, water sports, shopping, countless restaurants and 100 of the 462 golf courses in South Carolina, there is certainly something for everyone.

The area’s affordability, family-friendliness and beautiful beaches have landed Myrtle Beach in the most recent travel rankings by U.S. News & World Report, based on recommendations from website users and travel writers.

#3 Best Cheap Summer Vacations in the world, behind Yellowstone and Lisbon

Fly your flag!

Tue, May 3rd 2011 11:00 am by Angie Shoemaker General

Hello-

Today, this blog is about our nation’s triumphant execution of Osama Bin Laden and how overjoyed I am with tears streaming down my face.  I am not one to promote or tolerate violence but in this case, justice was long, long overdue.

I had the privilege of working for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 105th floor of the World Trade Center for five years before I retired at an early age. I set up their New York Short-Term Bonds Municipal Trading Desk and in doing so, hired young men & women to achieve the responsibility of doing a super New York Trading job.  Little did I know, I was indirectly sealing the fate of some of those lives. We had a wonderful trading desk so full of ...

Mother Nature boosting the Market

Tue, Mar 1st 2011 2:00 pm by Angie Shoemaker General

Greetings

I just want to send a short note to tell you how happy I am with the current Real Estate market.  The local area market of Pawleys Island, Murrells Inlet, Surfside and Garden City areas has truly been picking-up.  I already have 17 contracts with a lot more prospective buyers coming to town.  What the lowered interest rates and better stock market could not accomplish, Mother Nature did by delivering tons of snow to the North, two years in a row.  People are telling me they are hanging-up their snow shovels, packing-up their coats and heading to the South for sun, sand & sea!  Right now, we still have a strong inventory, but as more and more buyers are coming to the area, the b...

Enjoying the Journey

Thu, Jan 20th 2011 10:30 am by Angie Shoemaker General

Hi!

As we start the New Year, I have a new, fresh perspective on life: it’s another year to add to the journey, the story. Working in the real estate industry provides me the opportunity to continually meet new, wonderful people, all with great stories of their own. Whether a life of struggle or a path unburdened, everyone has a different story to share.

In this economy it has been tough to stay positive but it is the only way I know how to survive.  I was truly blessed with a positive attitude and outlook on life as a child and it has stayed with me throughout my life. I always remind myself of the laws of nature:  just as every action has an equal and opposite reaction, every ne...

Hi! I hope you and yours are doing well this Holiday season.  As the first decade of the new millennium comes to a close, I look back in amazement and go forward with hope in starting a great New Year. The area’s real estate market seems to have taken a slight turn for the better in recent months, and we can hope 2011 has good things in store for buyers and sellers alike!

I have to Thank God for blessing me with another good year and though we are in tough economic times, I try to stay positive and keep a healthy attitude, as I am certain things will turn around for us all.  The rougher periods in life have certainly made me a stronger woman and taught me to take time out to see the w...

Fall: What a Wonderful Season

Thu, Oct 21st 2010 6:00 pm by Angie Shoemaker General

I get my most answers walking the beach at sunrise.  It is my alone time to sort out all that is going on in my life.

Running a very successful real estate business can be very trying at times.  The market is tough but there are still alot of people interested in the Grand Strand area of South Carolina.

I just ran through my whole data base and I get the same response from most people: 'If only I could sell my house up North, I would be there yesterday!'

I was very lucky to be able to move down here 13 years ago. What a quiet area it was back then... I remember going out for lunch on Sunday at a raw clam bar and asking for a glass of beer and I was told not on Sunday.  Well coming down...

Family Fun, Making Memories

Thu, Sep 2nd 2010 5:45 pm by Angie Shoemaker General

Just want to share a little about how wonderful grandchildren are...   My grandchildren, ages 1, 2, 3, and 4, just steal my heart every time I see them! They live in New York and in Chicago so when we all get together, it’s a real treat and priceless quality time.  Living near the beach is great for plenty of reasons, but for me one of the best perks are my family’s visits...the first thing the grandchildren want to do is build sand castles with Grandma Angie and play in the waves.  To see the world around us through children’s eyes at that age is so special.  Everything is just fun and games, running, laughing and big beautiful smiles.

The areas of Pawleys Island, Murrells Inlet and My...

Digging-In

Mon, May 3rd 2010 3:30 pm by Angie Shoemaker General

I am happy to say that real estate is picking up in all price ranges.  It seems that some of he bigger buyers are starting to snoop around which is a good feeling.  Speaking of good feelings...As I was planting my tomatoes and basil, eggplant, peppers string beans cucumber, zucchini, oregano etc I just thought how great is it to have such a long growing season.  Coming from Bergen County, NJ we had such a short growing season. It felt good to get my hands in the dirt it helps me come up with new ideas to enhance my life and my real estate business.

Sometimes I just have to pinch myself because life is so good. I have always been fortunate to be able to think positive and find the good in...

When In Real Estate...

Tue, Mar 9th 2010 2:45 pm by Angie Shoemaker General

I don't know if buyers and agents are noticing that sellers are really digging-in...  I’ve recently had a number of low-ball offers on homes in Pawleys Island and the owners just said “NO”.  I feel the sellers have bled enough and most homes are priced to the new market which is regaining stability. If buyers are truly looking, they will have to realize that the majority of homes & condos on the market have gone through a steady reduction process over the last year, becoming the new and current market standard.  I would love to hear some agents’ thoughts to learn if they are seeing & feeling the same outcome as me. If so, let’s get the word out that this is it and if you want a good home ...

Ready to hang-up your shovels?

Fri, Feb 26th 2010 3:30 pm by Angie Shoemaker General

I lived in Bergen County, NJ before I moved to Pawleys Island, SC so I know all about snow.   It is beautiful and our property looked like a winter wonderland for exactly one day... then the hassle began. ‘Is the landscaper going to plow our driveway?  Is the plow going to come to plow our road?  How long ‘til I can get to my Wall Street job (as a municipal bond broker)?’

I’d try to get out and walk in the snow for about an hour but it is exhausting! -Especially deep snow! so the rest of the day you spend inside and feel trapped looking out the window.... I bet there are going to be a lot of babies born this year!

When we moved to Pawleys Island, (about 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach)...

Seafood and Dining in Murrells Inlet

Wed, Feb 24th 2010 11:30 am by Angie Shoemaker General

Just a few minutes up the road from Pawleys Island, is the seafood capital of South Carolina, Murrells Inlet.  When I moved here 12 years ago, I wasn't a big fan of fish, but since the relocation, I have found myself craving to go to every restaurant on the Marsh Walk and throughout ‘the inlet'. The Marsh Walk is a boardwalk that runs along Murrells Inlet's waterfront restaurant district providing gorgeous views and a wonderful setting for lunch or dinner.  The locals joking refer to the inlet as "a quaint little drinking village with a fishing problem." If you want to experience more of Murrells Inlet, you can take a deep-sea fishing tour, pick oysters and putt-around the inlet like the ...

Local Culture and Creativity

Thu, Feb 18th 2010 5:00 pm by Angie Shoemaker General

There is something magical in finding the perfect gift or souvenir from a vacation... keychains and t-shirts are a dime a dozen, but art can be priceless! The Grand Strand has many, very talented, local artists who have great passion for their craft and really put love, culture and creativity into their work. We are fortunate enough to have local galleries, Brookgreen Gardens and events like 'Art in the Park', that provide a platform for artists to display their paintings, sculptures, figurines, jewelry, furnishings and so much more!  I feel very strongly about supporting Grand Strand artists, and I often purchase pieces to give as drawing prizes at my Realtor Open Houses. I'm not one ...
