Ready to hang-up your shovels?

I lived in Bergen County, NJ before I moved to Pawleys Island, SC so I know all about snow.   It is beautiful and our property looked like a winter wonderland for exactly one day... then the hassle began. ‘Is the landscaper going to plow our driveway?  Is the plow going to come to plow our road?  How long ‘til I can get to my Wall Street job (as a municipal bond broker)?’

I’d try to get out and walk in the snow for about an hour but it is exhausting! -Especially deep snow! so the rest of the day you spend inside and feel trapped looking out the window.... I bet there are going to be a lot of babies born this year!

When we moved to Pawleys Island, (about 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach) the snow shovels didn’t make it into the moving truck.  This area has had 6 inches of snow... in10 years!  That, I can handle!

I’d also like to point out that our electric bills average about $120 a month (on a 3000 sq. foot home) that is heat, air conditioning, water heater, the daily use of kitchen appliances, washer & dryer, etc. Living in New Jersey, we use to pay $2,000 just to heat our in-ground pool!!  I cannot imagine what those oil bills must be like in these days.

If you’re tired

Stay Tuned....In my next blog I will discuss taxes
